The Rural Bank of Lumban (Laguna) Inc. commenced its operations in February 1969, following its formal establishment in June 1968 upon the approval of its application by the Central Bank of the Philippines. The institution was conceived and organized by Dr. Oscar A. Samonte, whose vision was to provide financial support to small-scale merchants and farmers, thereby fostering local economic growth and stability.

Since its inception, the bank has played a significant role in strengthening the economy of Lumban, a municipality whose livelihood is largely sustained by the barong industry, coconut production (copra), rice farming, lanzones cultivation, and other agricultural activities. Additionally, the town's fishing and cottage industries contribute to its diverse economic landscape.

By facilitating access to financial services for local entrepreneurs and agricultural stakeholders, the bank has been instrumental in promoting financial inclusion and sustainable development within the community. The Rural Bank of Lumban (Laguna) Inc. was granted authorization by the Central Bank to operate with an initial paid-up capital stock of one million pesos (P1,000,000.00), solidifying its legal personality and positioning it as a valuable financial institution within the region.
